Challenges

Every new software installation for a business process typically means waiting for a technician to configure the system on different computers and make it functional. Another issue is lack of clarity on the number of licenses obtained for the product and that may cause some software to lie unused.

Over time it becomes difficult to identify the systems that require software updates and the ones that have already been updated. With legacy software configuration and updates, compliance management also becomes difficult – the reports generated can deviate from the actual and the data therein is not always secure.

Our client in this case was a leading liquor manufacturing company based in India. The organisation needed an integrated management solution for their 1500 end points to resolve the concerns as stated above. They were seeking a partner who could assess their infrastructure in detail and deploy relevant solutions in time without disrupting the usual operations.

The Solution by Octans

Octans addressed these challenges of enterprise systems management through System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) implementation. A Microsoft product, SCCM helps to administer large group of computers using Windows, Linux, macOS as also Androis, iOS, Windows Phone and Symbian mobile operating systems.

We offered our SCCM client rollouts where the configuration comes with operating system deployment, software distribution, remote supervision, patch management, network access security and hardware & software inventory management. Beginning with design preparation, our team enabled and tested OS imaging along with the particular business applications on myriad computer models and other devices for the client.

Benefits accrued

  • Asset Intelligence for automated inventory reporting and license monitoring
  • Patch management to acquire, test and install multiple code changes for an administered computer system
  • Integrated security compliance management to maintain configuration drift
  • Business Intelligence integration to create dashboards
  • Lower software installation and maintenance costs
  • Improved business agility
