Challenges

As the operational needs of a business expand, scaling of IT systems is difficult due to complexities of infrastructure management. Rewriting codes and moving or installing apps on different hardware can be a huge task. It is also important to keep the critical business information secure during the transition. Another challenge is to work on redundant machines for quick disaster recoveries.

Custom business applications and software systems are hard to engineer on small scale and as the enterprise expands, their management becomes even more difficult. Employing more of technicians can adversely affect OpEx.

A major Indian ITeS company with footprints across 20 countries approached Octans with such concerns. The company offers training & development solutions to individuals, businesses and other institutions. It covers a user base of over 1200 entities around the globe and is still growing its operations. Optimising the IT infrastructure in sync with changing needs was critical.

The Solution by Octans

Octans accelerated the digital transformation of business in this case by facilitating multiple virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) deployment options with Citrix solutions on Microsoft Azure. These cover virtual apps, desktops, data and networking. We helped our client organisation to condition and deliver its workloads on Microsoft Azure Cloud platform or implement VDI with Citrix Cloud services on Microsoft Azure.

Having understood the unique requirements of the company, we prepared to design their network layout and spin the virtual machines. This was followed by integration of Azure with Citrix Cloud and publishing of business applications to Citrix. The Active Directory (AD) was synced from on-premise to Azure AD. Backups and disaster recovery solutions were also taken care of.

Benefits accrued

  • Flexibility of scaling up and scaling down machines and storage capacities
  • Automated processes to regulate workload
  • Increased mobility and BYOD benefits
  • Shift to a monthly OpEx model replacing huge capital investments
  • Azure Cloud storage backed by 99.95% SLA guarantee
